5 Healthy Recipes in Under 5 Minutes

The extremely busy lives of high school students have posed a challenge for teenagers to find the time to make healthy options for themselves. Grabbing a bag of chips from the snack cabinet is much less time consuming than cooking a bowl of vegetables. This is why many students choose the unhealthy eating route. With these 5 recipes, teenagers will be able to eat healthy while minimizing their snack preparation time.


Mixed Berries Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of frozen mixed berries
  • 1 cup of almond milk or soy milk
  • ½ of a medium banana

Directions

  1. Pour the fruit, milk and banana into a blender
  2. Blend the ingredients for one minute
  3. Pour the smoothie into a cup and enjoy!

Total Preparation Time:

4 Minutes


Apple Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1 Apple
  • 2 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter/ Soy Butter
  • ¼ cup Granola
  • ¼ cup Chocolate Chips

Directions

  1. Cut the apple across twice to make 2 thin apple slices
  2. Core the apple slices
  3. Spread the peanut butter or soy buy onto one of the apple slices
  4. Spread out granola, chocolate chips and any other toppings onto the apple slice
  5. Place the other apple slice onto the slice with toppings, and create your apple sandwich

Total Preparation Time:

3 Minutes


Yogurt Parfait

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup of raspberries
  • ¼ cup of strawberries
  • ¼ cup of blueberries
  • ½ cup of granola
  • 3/4 cup of vanilla greek yogurt

Directions

  1. Place ¼ cup of yogurt into a cup
  2. Please a total of ¼ cup of raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries on top of the yogurt
  3. Place another ¼ cup of yogurt on top of the berries
  4. Place a total of ¼ cup of raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries on top of the yogurt
  5. Place another ¼ cup of yogurt on top of the berries
  6. Place the remaining berries and granola on top of the yogurt

5 Minutes


Peanut Butter Celery Sticks

Ingredients:

  • 2 Celery sticks
  • 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter/ soy butter
  • ½ cup of raisins

Directions

  1. Cut each celery stick in half so you have 4 smaller celery sticks
  2. Spread peanut or soy butter onto each stick of celery
  3. Pour as many raisins as desired on top of the peanut butter

2 Minutes


Avocado Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 Avocado
  • 2 Pieces of Whole Wheat Toast
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Lemon Juice

Directions

  1. Place the 2 slices of bread in the toaster for 2 minutes
  2. Peel, cut and mash the avocado
  3. Mix in a pinch of salt and pepper into the avocado
  4. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the avocado
  5. Place the avocado mix onto the whole wheat bread
