By: Skylar Semon & Maya Hoffman

It has been just over two months since we began our quarantine in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. A lot has changed in those two months, but one thing remains the same – we are stuck inside and constantly looking for things to do! Here is a list of just a few of the many ways to keep your quarantine boredom to a minimum.

Family Bingo: Family Bingo is a great way to bond with your family while also having fun. Bingo is a game that is fun for people of all ages. It can also be played with a small or large amount of people. You could zoom your friends or immediate family, and all play together. If you don’t have a bingo set, you could download somebody speaking online. If you don’t have cards you could also print those out online. If you want to make it a little more competitive, perhaps you can play for small gift cards to your favorite take out places!

Watch a Movie: Watching a movie is a great way to occupy yourself for a few hours. Due to the pandemic, many movies have been released on platforms, such as Apple TV, early. These include: Trolls World Tour, Birds of Prey, and Jump Shot: The Kenny Sailors Story. If you’re not interested in any of these new movies, you can find countless favorites on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and Disney+.

Exercise: Home Workouts are a great idea to keep focused and in shape during quarantine. You can do them with your family and even your friends on zoom. You can look up home workouts online’ there are a lot of options on YouTube! You can even do workouts without a lot of equipment, or head on outside on the nice days for a long walk or run.

Try a new recipe: Quarantine is a great time to experiment with new foods or try to recreate meals you usually order in a restaurant. You can often look up iconic recipes and find recreations. Some of the more popular recreations include Disney’s Dole Whip, Hilton DoubleTree Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Disney’s Churro Bites.

Study for the SAT/ACT: With all this free time, you have a great opportunity to get ahead in your academics. For Sophomores and Juniors, now that academic workload is starting to slow down for the year, you can get a head start on prep for your exams. There are many online courses to take for preparing for a college entrance exam, or you can purchase a practice test book with tests and answer keys. These are available on Amazon and also from Barnes and Noble.

Make cards for first responders:  Doctors, nurses, and first responders are working all hours of the day to help us flatten the curve. They go to work for us so we should stay home for them to prevent the spread. The least we can do is to give back and show gratitude for all of their hard work. You can make cards and send them to hospitals, learn to sew masks, or provide coffee and meals to the medical professions. Organizations such as  Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health are also accepting donations for supplies

Tie Dye your clothes: Tie Dye has become a trendy new way to style your clothes. This look can even be achieved at home. You can purchase sweatshirts and sweatpants for cheap on Amazon. With rubber bands and bleach, you can create cool and original designs. Tutorials can often be found on YouTube or Google.

Clean out your closet: Some people may dread this, while some might love it. During quarantine, people have a lot of time. You should get this important spring-cleaning task over with. You could clean out your clothes closet or even your kitchen cabinets. You could even help your mom clean up around the house.

Learn an instrument or language: All this free time gives you the perfect opportunity to pick up a new hobby. It is easy to learn an instrument with YouTube tutorials. You can even learn a new language, such as French, ASL, or Mandarin while watching online tutorials for beginners.

Do a puzzle or play cards with your family: Quarantine is a great time to just spend time with your family because you are all home. You can play board games or learn new card games. There are also puzzles made up of over 1000 pieces that could literally take days to complete!
