There’s Always Room For Dessert

By Rachel Schier

This summer, I ate my way through Long Island by visiting these three dessert venues. Either for an afternoon snack or to cap off a dinner out, check out these local spots for sweet treats.

Kiss My Cake, Huntington Village

You may have walked past this little bakery in Huntington a couple of times without even noticing, but trust me, after one bite of their amazing cupcakes, you’ll make Kiss My Cake a necessity when in Huntington.

This Salted Caramel cupcake is everything you’ve ever dreamed of and more.  With the perfectly moist chocolate cake and rich caramel, this cupcake has just the right balance of sweet and salty.

One of the most-loved cupcakes from Kiss My Cake is their S’mores cupcake. This cupcake was perfectly creamy and chocolatey. Eating this, you get both the texture of a cupcake, as well as the taste of a s’more.

Aside from cupcakes, Kiss My Cake also offers a wide variety of French Macaroons. These French Macaroons melt in your mouth and taste heavenly. I could eat them all day.

Kilwins, Various Locations

Whether you’re in Florida, Michigan, or here on Long Island, Kilwins is always a hit. With everything from fudge to ice cream, Kilwins has it all. This is one of Kilwin’s most popular ice cream flavors, Marshmallow S’more. You could taste all of the flavors of this popular summer treat in every lick.

These well-loved caramel apples were amazing. This crunchy apple covered in sweet caramel and topped with salty nuts all blended together perfectly in each and every bite.

This Kilwin’s S’mores Treat was like nothing I’ve ever had before. This treat was a chewy marshmallow rolled in crunchy graham crackers and dipped in rich chocolate. I got to experience the taste of a real s’more without a campfire! All of these snacks were so tasty and satisfying. I definitely recommend stopping in the next time you pass by a Kilwins.

Krisch’s Ice Cream Parlour, Massapequa

Krisch’s Ice Cream Parlour was much more than just a scoop of ice cream topped with some sprinkles. This 1950’s themed Ice Cream Parlour in Massapequa has rich, homemade ice cream flavors that will keep you coming back for more.

This drool-worthy sundae is one of Krisch’s most popular, called the Peanut Butter Blowout. If you like the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, then this sundae is definitely for you. With the savory tastes of chocolate and peanut butter in every bite, this sundae is an all around favorite.
