HS Juniors Make Memories at the Hamlet

By: Alexa Foodim

After a long week of rain, the skies cleared up and the Class of 2019 was ready for our long-awaited junior outing. Everyone got dressed to the nines in their beautiful dresses and handsome suits. The beautiful flower arrangements in corsages and boutonnieres were perfect for the crisp spring night. The perfectly planned night began at the school at 5 PM where we got on our assigned buses, organized by our chaperones, and headed to the Hamlet Country Club in Commack. The venue was perfect and offered tons of space to dance the night away.

The dancing started right as we entered the room. A lively DJ and an energetic MC united the grade on the dance floor as we danced and sang to some of our favorite songs, including new hits and old classics. It was really fun to watch the entire grade together outside of the school day in a more social setting. There was also a photo booth with fun props and a photographer. There was a huge line as everyone wanted to get their photo taken for a souvenir from our special night.

The dancing took a short break when the food was ready. Everyone sat at big round tables as we anxiously waited for the announcement that the delicious food was ready to be served. There was a large buffet station filled with favorites, such as chicken parmesan, macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers, french fries, and pasta. Our attention to the food was short-lived as we were all anxious to get right back on the dance floor. Later in the night, the dessert station was ready and who doesn’t love an ice cream bar with tons of toppings including cookie dough, sprinkles, oreos, and M and Ms? Ice cream sundaes were the perfect way to top off a great night.

Around 8:45 PM we got back on our buses to head back to the school. Special thanks to Student Government, Mr. Nolan, and the chaperones for organizing our first formal outing as a class. The junior outing lived up to all of our expectations; it definitely was a night the entire grade will never forget.
