Varsity Basketball Secures Playoff Spot Once Again

By: Jack Gottlieb

The Half Hollow Hills East boys basketball team currently sits at 7-4 in league play and has most recently secured yet another postseason run by easily defeating both Centereach and Copiague. After falling short in a few contests, these most recent wins have inspired the Thunderbirds to continue this momentum into the playoffs. This team has a lot of really solid young players including freshman Dante Green, so the Thunderbirds have high hopes to finish out this season strong and to carry that strength into upcoming seasons. With so many great Hills East basketball teams and players in recent years, this team definitely has some added pressure, but they are more than willing to rise to the occasion. Senior captain Reid Pliskin and Jake Selmer will look to keep this team’s winning streak alive when they face Smithtown West at home on February 6. As the season is winding down, Hills East is looking to bring the accolades of another strong playoff run home to their fans. While the competition is tough at times, this team consistently plays good defense and has a ton of young talent to set them up for success in the future. No matter how you look at it, our Thunderbirds are exciting to watch when they dominate on the court.
