The iPhone 12 is Here

By: Maddy Schioppo

The world’s smallest, thinnest, and lightest 5G phone is here! On October 13, 2020, Apple introduced its newest iPhones, the iPhone 12 series, which offer powerful features at an affordable price tag. Sold beside the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini are fitting for those who don’t want Pro camera features. The iPhone 12 has it all – in two perfect sizes. The standard iPhone 12 is 6.1 inches and is a successor to the iPhone 11, while the mini is an all-new size, measuring 5.4 inches. The 12 mini marks the smallest iPhone Apple has introduced since the SE in 2016! The iPhone 12 comes in 5 aesthetically pleasing finishes: white, black, red, green, and blue. The standard 12 and the mini are technically identical, with the exception of screen size and battery size.

For the first time, the new iPhone models feature Super Retina XDR OLED displays, with an edge-to-edge design. OLED delivers brighter brights, darker blacks, and high resolution for better image processing. With a ceramic shield and 4x better drop performance, this iPhone is clearly tougher than any other smartphone glass. It even has a stronger spill and splash resistance. 5G on the iPhone is superfast. This means you can download movies on the fly, stream higher-quality videos, or FaceTime in HD over cellular. If you’re snapping shots quickly, the iPhone intelligently adapts, speeding up processing so you can capture all the action. This phone has the broadest 5G coverage worldwide, meaning you can do all of this in more places. The A14 Bionic is the fastest chip in a smartphone, and it pushes what’s possible, like crunching trillions of operations on the Neural Engine or shooting in Dolby Vision (something pro movie cameras can’t even do!). With superefficient battery life, it is prepared to power almost anything that it faces.

The dual-camera system presents Night mode for both the wide and ultra-wide cameras. Night mode senses when light is low and kicks in automatically, maintaining clarity while capturing beautiful vibrant color that soothes your eyes. Whether you take photos by day or by night, you will get a level of detail and color that wasn’t possible before. Smart HDR 3 uses machine learning to recognize scenes, then adjusts sharpness, color, and white balance where needed, to capture details that make photos feel true to life.

iPhone 12 works with existing power adapters, EarPods, and USB-A to Lightning cables. However, because there are billions of those out in the world, new ones often go unused. Apple addressed this problem by removing them from the box. This reduces carbon emissions and avoids the mining and use of precious materials. In addition to helping the environment, it shrinks the package size, allowing more boxes per shipment and fewer shipments overall. To charge your new iPhone, you can use your USB-A to Lightning cable, or you can take advantage of fast charging with the USB-C to Lightning Cable now included in the box. There are many ways to buy the iPhone 12. Through special carrier trade-in offers for an unbelievable price, you can purchase your iPhone through AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon. You can also trade in your smartphone for credit or upgrade to the latest iPhone. The new iPhone models feature new, efficient components that make this smartphone the best one yet!
