On September 21, 2023, Farmingdale students and faculty were on their way to band camp in Pennsylvania when one of the six charter buses, holding forty students and four adults, slid off of the Interstate Highway and flipped over.

Farmingdale band director Gina Pellettiere and former teacher Beatrice Ferrari passed away from the incident, and at least sixteen students were left injured.

The Hills East faculty, students, and staff supported those mourning the loss of family, friends, and teachers by wearing green – Farmingdale’s school color. Our school and community feel a profound sense of sorrow and grieve for our fellow classmates, teachers, and all who are affected by this tragic accident.
