On December 16th, the students and faculty of Hills East wore their favorite Superhero t-shirts and donated to the Cody L. Byrnes Memorial Foundation. Cody was a 2011 graduate of High School East, and he fought a tough battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma during his high school years. Cody never gave up, and he courageously attempted to continue his passion of soccer during his six year long battle. He loved soccer and aspired to be a professional coach someday, but he unfortunately lost this battle to cancer in 2014. The Cody L. Byrnes Memorial strives to award scholarships to dedicated athletes in order to help their families in times of need. Cody supported these athletes, and he certainly wished to keep them on the field!
