Celebrating Black History Month

By: Ava Sobel

During the month of February, the Hills East staff and student body supported and celebrated Black History Month! The Science National Honor Society created an interactive Periodic Table of Black History to support incredibly influential African-Americans from all periods of U.S history. With each person representing a different element, students were encouraged to scan a QR code that sends you to a website containing that person’s background and accomplishments! The Science National Honor Society honored some highly accomplished African Americans, including Beyonce, MLK, and Morgan Freeman. Additionally, members of the Black Student Alliance educated the Hills teachers and staff during the entire month of February. Members of the Black Student Alliances highlighted an influential African-American of their choice during our daily announcements. Our African-American students and students of all cultures and backgrounds are welcomed and celebrated here at High School East!
