At High School East, we have a plethora of clubs and activities that pertain to people with all different interests. The options are endless. I would definitely recommend joining clubs as they are a great way to not only meet new people, but also strengthen your experience in a certain area that may be of interest to you. Almost always, HSE clubs openly welcome new members at any given time throughout the year; the more members the merrier! Our school offers about 70 different clubs, so you are bound to find something you will enjoy.
Types of clubs range from high level academics to sports to environmental preservation to world languages to the arts. If you have a love for Art or a particularly creative side, there are artistic clubs, such as Architecture club, Fashion club, Photography club and Art club in which you can get involved. If you are adept in business/mathematics and enjoy some healthy competition, we have a debate team, a business club called DECA, Model UN, the Thunder Brains, Mock Trial, and Mathletes. Another popular club in which our school often has great participation is Student Government. Within this organization, students can help plan for and facilitate a multitude of school wide events, such as homecoming, student elections, and the HSE color run that occurs in June. If you are someone who enjoys giving back to your community, get involved and join our community service and volunteering programs, Key Club and Interact. A main goal of several clubs at HSE is to spread awareness. The Animal Friends and Advocates Club spreads awareness for the protection and health of harmed animals, while Amnesty International discusses various human rights issues.
If you are passionate about a certain subject, High School East welcomes the opportunity for you to apply for membership in one of a multitude of honor societies. There is the National Honor Society, Art Honor Society, Music Honor Society, Business Honor Society, Italian Honor Society, French Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. In almost all clubs, there are leadership positions and officer spots available if you are a dedicated and committed member to the club. With so many different choices, I have no doubt in my mind that there is a club at HSE for you. Come on down and join in the fun!
