Favorite Films for a Festive Season!

by Shelby Gosset

It is finally December (even though the weather doesn’t really seem like it); that means it’s time to get under the covers, brew some hot chocolate, and indulge in a great holiday movie! Here are some of our favorite movies to enjoy this holiday season.

Elf: In this hilarious holiday treat, Will Ferrell plays a human raised as an elf in the North Pole. He finally starts to realize, with some help from his fellow elves, that maybe he doesn’t really belong there. He heads to New York to find his true identity and his long lost father. The hilarity ensues as this oversized elf makes his way through the familiar holiday sights of Manhattan.

Home Alone: An 8-year old troublemaker must protect his home from a pair of burglars when he is accidentally left home alone by his family during their annual Christmas vacation. With some quick thinking and a lot of pranks, Kevin manages to outsmart the burglars and save Christmas for everyone.

Christmas with the Kranks: Since their daughter is away at college, the Krank Family decides to skip Christmas this year. When she surprises them by coming home, the family must throw together a Christmas celebration at the last minute. This fun-loving family comedy is sure to be a treat for everyone to enjoy.

Love the Coopers: Currently in theaters, four generations of the Cooper family get together for their annual Christmas Eve celebration. This comedy is filled with unexpected visitors and events inspired by the holiday spirit.

Four Christmases: This comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon follows this married couple as they try to visit all four of their divorced parents for Christmas. While they had originally intended to be away from all of their family members for the holidays, plans changed, and they were forced to make the most of the situation. What follows are four very different Christmas experiences and a lot of family togetherness that leaves the audience laughing all the way.

A Christmas Story: The holiday classic follows the disappointing, but funny, holiday experience of Ralphie and his dysfunctional family. From bunny suits to a Christmas Eve celebration in a Chinese restaurant, this holiday classic is a heartwarming rendition of a family spending a holiday together and making the best of it.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation: The Griswold family is back, and this time, they’re celebrating the holidays in their own, very unique style. All of the National Lampoon films are full of wildly entertaining hijinks and slapstick comedy; this is no different! From the cast of eccentric characters to the outrageous plot line, this has long been a family favorite for the holidays.
